Chloe's 1st day of Summer Pre-School

Chloe started Pre-School on the 16th of June. The Summer Session actually started on the 8th but since she only goes on Tuesdays & Thursdays, it would have been on the 9th for her. She missed her first week because she was in Iowa visiting her Daddies side of the family. Her 1st day of school was okay. She got to pick out a lunch box & a backpack the day before school started. She wanted a Princess Lunch Box & Dora backpack! She was very excited to get them. I told her that she was going to school with her friend, Mateo. When she arrived at the school, she started crying & realized that this was it. When I left her, she was crying but not too terribly bad...it wasn’t her typical hysterical cry, where she’ll make herself vomit so I knew we were on the good start. Her teacher introduced herself to me - Miss Jenn. When it was time for me to go, she quickly attached herself to Miss Jenn & cried. When it was time to pick her up, Miss Jenn informed me that she did okay for her 1st time being away from me. She was holding on to Miss Jenn the whole part of the morning - she actually ended up taking a nap on her shoulder because she worked herself up from crying. After lunch, she managed to pull herself together & played in the next room they school provided, which was the Arts & Craft room. She was very content playing w/ Playdough & Markers. Overall, I cannot complain - she did awesome but she’ll need to learn to not be carried the whole time during school. Outside of Pre-school (in the parking lot)- a lil' apprehensive! On Thursday, it was that time again. She was at first excited to drag her Dora back pack around until it was time to get into the car. It took her a while to get in but with a little re-assurance that everything will be okay & this is what big girls do, she finally went in her car seat. We arrived & she cried, of course. I informed Miss Jenn that Chloe doesn’t need to be held the whole time. She will understand if the teacher tells her that she has to work now...she might cry a little bit but she will be okay. When I dropped her off, she actually cried for 5 minutes & she was fine (I stayed for about 10 minutes to talk to the owner of the school). Miss Jenn did hold her for a little bit but did end up telling Chloe that she has to work now & Chloe was fine with it.

Both Steve & I are very proud of her...I know this will take time. Steve, I believe, was having the hardest time...the day before school, he was already dreading it for her. Thank God he didn’t end up going with us...I think it would have made things worst if the both of us were there. He was having second thoughts about her going to school this summer when he heard about Chloe’s 1st day of school went, but I had to reassure him that this was a good thing for her...she truly needs another outlet besides me. With Callie arriving soon, I need her to be able to do things w/o Mommie all the time. This way, I won’t feel like I am ignoring or neglecting her when I am still trying to get situated with having a new infant around. Besides this is the next step in life for her - sad to say but our 1st born is growing up! It’s part of life & I am very excited for her - life has so many to offer & I would hate to hinder her from experiencing the things that any 2 year old can experience!

Below is a video that we were able to capture of Chloe on Memorial Day (may 25th)- informing us of her numbers, colors & animals...
