Trip to Honolulu with Callie

Well, it seems like it's been a while since I've updated our blog. It just feels like this month had flown by so very quickly. Chloe ended her school for the year...yay! She was never so excited to not have to go to school for a while. I've been looking around to see what class she can take for the summer. I just want her to enjoy her summer & hang out with friends...and be a 3 year old.

Callie is 10 months old. She's been eager to try to stand on her own. She's manage to stand for a few seconds before she gets super excited and falls into me! Both Steve and I have noticed that her standing seems to get longer and longer. By the time we were in HI, she managed to take 3 steps while waving her hand hello!

Both Callie & I went for a Mommy & me trip to Honolulu to visit with friends at the end of May. Chloe stayed behind with Steve. During the day, our friend, Conni, watched her while Steve was at work. Then Steve would pick her up in the afternoon. Steve pretty much took half days for the days that we were gone. It was a vacation waiting for us. This was my very first trip somewhat alone. Steve has taken many trip on his own w/o us so it was my turn to have one finally! :) Our flight to Honolulu was great! I could not have asked for anything else. Callie was a great flyer. She only cried once because I had ran out of water to fill her formula. And the flight attendants were too busy to attend to me so they just basically ignored me for 10 minutes until Callie screamed her eyes out. I had to walk to the back of the plane to get their attention. After Callie had her milk, she was back to being her happy self. This was a great way to start our adventures together.

For the most part, she really did a great job trying to adjust the time difference, all the new people, the bed she was sleeping, new carseat...everything was practically new to her. It took her a few days to get comfortable & be her happy self. She enjoyed all the food that we've eaten. She tried poi and ate that up. I mixed it with some fruits and she loved it. She tasted some dim-sum and ate that up too...but then I think she enjoys food as much as her Mama! Steve says, "there's not one food that she doesn't like!"

Chloe seemed to have enjoyed herself with some alone time with Steve. Steve definitely said that he was glad that he got the chance to spend more hours with her oppose to just 2 hours a day. He took her to movies...tried taking her to an Aquarium. They went swimming alot and going to the park too. She was never so happy to see us...she gave the sweetest welcome back kisses and hugs! She even gave Callie a few kisses of her own...typically Callie only gets one!

I had a wonderful time seeing Jodie and meeting Lyrik (Jodie's baby). Kawika (Jodie's hubby) was kind enough to drive us around. A good friend of mine, Stephanie Cicconi, back in the day met us there wiht her sister, Emily Cicconi. It was really a great time. I wished I had the chance to see more of my friends but my time was limited. I always think I have all this time then next thing I know my visiting days are over! I wished I was staying longer but I was starting to miss my other half of the family. I do love Hawaii...funny how I haven't been back for 2 years and I'm acting like this was the first time I've ever seen Oahu! We were driving on the Kaneohe side and was in awe of the Pali sighting...the beach was awesome too. But I've always been a beach girl so I guess, I would always appreciate the site of an ocean! Here's our Honolulu pics.

Side Note: Callie has continued to take a few steps of her own...here and there. She seems to only do it basically when she's not thinking about it.
