October

October came and went. It was such a busy month for us...of course, what else is new. Steve Hanley, Steve's nephew, is here staying with us until December. He's here doing his PT internship. It's been fun having him around. The girls just adore him tremendously and I've enjoyed having a second helper around the house. We rarely do get to see him since his work schedule isn't in the normal business hours. I mean the hours isn't consistent...very sporadic throughout the week. Although we did get to celebrate his birthday...we had a week full of celebration since October is my birthday month also...and I have a few friends that's having their birthday in October too. Steve was out of town, for work, during Hanley's birthday so I took the responsibility to make sure we celebrated Hanley's birthday since he was going to be turning the great 25!!! Wohooo...25 was one of my favorite birthdays! Then that weekend, we went to Sapporo's & celebrated mine. After a couple of days to recouped then, my friends had their birthday celebrations too. Then we had Halloween, which The Irias', offered to have a little gathering so all the kids can Trick or Treat in their neighborhood. Maricopa isn't really the place to go Trick or Treating since we don't have any street lights, it really gets dark in our neighborhood & most of our neighbors are scares. Chloe chose to be Princess Mulan this year. Steve really wanted for us to dress as a family in Star Wars costume but Chloe was not keen on the idea. We tried persuading her to be Princess Leah but she said that she wasn't cute...I think she really didn't like the costume of Princess Leah! Callie would have been a great Ewok & Steve be Darth Vader, of course. Instead both Steve & I didn't dress up and just let the girls dress up on their own. The costume that we got Callie ended up not fitting her properly (of course, I didn't realized this until the day she had to dress up) so I had to think quickly & got a couple of Chloe's dress up clothes & found a cute Little Mermaid that seemed to fit her! She turned out so cute...she looked like she was going to a pageant or something! Chloe, of course, loved her costume. She enjoyed Trick or Treating...she's so darn shy, you barely can hear her say the word. My Mommy group had a Fall Family Fun Day which all the kiddos get to dress up & go to each Dads & say "Trick or Treat" to them & the Dads hand out treats to each kid in the group. Chloe would barely open her mouth! She would only extend her hand out so that the Dads can drop the treats in her basket! Afterwards Steve had to have a talk with her about how she needed to speak loud & look people in the eye when she's speaking especially when all of her friend's Daddies are giving away treats out of the kindness of their heart! Then a friend of ours had a little Halloween Birthday Boo Bash so we got to go trick or treating in the ASU campus. They had these college students & their family had out treats from the trunk of their car so they called it "Trunk or Treat" - I've never heard of that idea before but it was the coolest thing because they all parked their car in the parking lot & had their trunks all decked out of their choosing! And the kids didn't have very far to go! We'll have to go & do that again next year! So by Halloween came, Chloe finally built up the courage to say "Trick or Treat" somewhat loudly!

Callie has finally a tooth...she's been teething for quite sometime but no tooth to show for it. She's woken herself up a few times being so fussy so I know she's teething! I can't believe she's 15 months and barely has a tooth pop thru!!! She is also no longer taking a bottle - we've taken that away from her. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. It took her a minute to realized that she was no longer getting a bottle one morning but with Chloe's encouragement, she was okay with it. Now, I have to work on her thumb sucking! She's pretty good about not sucking her thumb unless she's in her bed but it seems like every time she has her puppy that we call "Spunky" it has become a natural habit to put her thumb in her mouth & start sucking. So as my friend suggested, she's no longer allowed to carry Spunky around. Spunky is staying in her crib until she gets out of the sucking habit. Funny how both girls have their quirks. Chloe stopped taking a paci at age 9 months but could not get off the bottle for almost 2 1/2 months...actually I think she finally stopped around February so she was almost 3 years old! It was a battle with her! And Callie is the opposite... no bottle at age 15 months and thumb sucking...to be continued!

Both girls got weighed in this month. Chloe is 27 lbs and Callie is 20 lbs and 31 inches. Both are doing well & thriving, as their doctor like to say! Even though Chloe is so darn skinny, she's weighed 2 pounds more since she turned 3 so I guess, they consider that good! She's growing a little bit but not a whole lot. She's in between sizes right now. She can fit into 2T shirts but could see that the length is getting close to being short on her. Pants, she could go 3T but it's a little long on her but 2T is almost high water on her. Callie is short, of course. She can fit into 6-12 months still. She's 25% in weight & 50% in height, I guess.

Here are some of our October pics...I think I have more to post but I need to have more time to upload them! I'm already behind uploading our last trip to Newport...one of these days, I'll upload them also!

And on the side note: I must say, Steve got me a nice camera for my birthday and I love it! I've always love taking photos but now with this nice camera, I feel like a professional!!! Ha! But I do take so much photos now, I think I'm starting to clog up our computer with it, which Steve isn't too happy about...I guess, it's time to get him a computer of his own! :) Here's my zoo shots that I took recently...it was such a beautiful day, a lot of the animals were out to enjoy the day also. Typically the tiger & lions are in hiding when it gets too hot for them but the day we visited, they were out sun bathing so I got to take some really cool shots!!!
