Thanksgiving 2010

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! The Irias' hosted their annual Thanksgiving Dinner at their house for 3 years in a row now. I was a bit sad that we no longer can walk across the street to enjoy the festivities. They had moved earlier this year so it was a little odd to be celebrating the holidays at their new place. Although I love their new house so I'm not sure why I'm a little sad, it's not like I'm such a sentimental person and we still get to celebrate the holiday with them! lol It was a small Thanksgiving this year, it was just us, The Irias' and the Reppe's. Oh and Steven, our nephew, of course! Steven & I decided to bake a pie instead of my typical buying it from the store. So we did a practice run on the baking and all I can say is, it really didn't help me much! I could have sworn my Pecan Pie tasted better the first time around and I didn't change anything so I'm not sure where I went wrong on that one! Hanley's pie turned pretty good. I'm not much of a silk pie but it was pretty good...I love the crust of the pie so having some chocolate with it was yummy. He also made some pumpkin pie. I guess, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving if there wasn't a Pumpkin Pie served, that's what he said, at least! I had to break it to him that we typically do not have Pumpkin Pies in our festivities so the Pie was mostly eaten by the Derouin side...meaning, it was both Steve's that enjoyed that Pumpkin Pie.

I cannot believe this year is almost over - I feel like it just snuck up upon us so quickly. It's been nice having Steve Hanley around, I know his visit will be ending soon. We got to celebrate a couple of things with him - his 25th birthday, Halloween and thanksgiving. Lovie (my Steve) got to take Hanley to Las Vegas, which was a first for Hanley, a few weeks ago. He had himself a blast and won himself some monies. His younger brother, Grant, came to visit us for a few days also. He was checking out ASU (Engineering) for school next Fall. I guess he's thinking about enlisting in the military for Engineering. So he was figuring out what's more enticing..."going to a college with a bunch of hot chicks or enlisting to a military", that's what we were trying to get him to see but it seems like we weren't successful at convincing him. I just hope it was a fun visit for him.
