Wildlife Zoo

This last weekend, we took the girls to the Wildlife Zoo. Chloe enjoyed all the Tigers (she called them kitty kat) and telling them how pretty they are. She kept calling for them to come. We were about 4 feet away from them, which is really cool. I was little torn about the zoo because I think it's neat that these animals are being saved but I feel awful that all the Tigers were pacing back & forth like they are in distressed. Their cage is pretty big & it is outside but they are still being caged in. It's nothing like the Phoenix Zoo where their Lions & Tigers have their own habitat - it doesn't look like nor feel like they are caged in. I might say for the amount that they charge, they should be able to provide them a better living space. The entrance fee is $26.50 per adult and both Chloe & Callie were free. But that's still expensive because when Chloe is of age (3-12 yrs old), the fee they charge is $14.25 per kid! It's beautifully laid put - we love that we were able to walk around on such a nice day. We went with The Siemen's. Their son, Max, is one of Chloe's friends. And their daughter, Samantha, is only 6 or 7 months older than Callie. It was nice to look at all the animals up close. Chloe & Max enjoyed feeding the Giraffes. Chloe wanted to keep feeding them but was totally grossed out when their tongue touches her hand! Steve said her reaction to the Giraffe's tongue reminded him of me! Like Mother like daughter, apparently. Oh Goodness! Am I that prissy?

It's so neat to see the difference in our girls. Chloe is very girlie girl and loves to wear dresses and cute outfits (partially I have myself to blame). Very vocal about what she likes and doesn't like. Every school day, she will give me an approval on the outfits that I had picked out for her that morning...it's a constant battle with her. Her eating is not any better. She doesn't eat much. Again, it's a battle for us to feed her food. If she had it her way, she would just live on liquids alone...and oh yeah, all the crappy candies Daddy eats! She enjoys playing in her playroom and do role play. She calls her stuff animals "her babies" instead of dolls. An animal lover (just like her Daddy). She is getting into playing ball - she loves to kick & catch (mind you, she still can't catch but attempts to) - this just enthralls Steve. I think it gives him some hope that Chloe might be prissy but a prissy girl who loves to play ball...maybe??? She definitely loves to play instruments - loves to play the piano and make up songs to go w/ her music. She enjoys arts & crafts - she could sit for a very long time painting. As for crafts, she loves doing it but will do it in station. She likes to do 3 or 4 things at the same time so I have to limit her to 2 crafts per station. When she's done with 1 station, we move to the next station. She can keep doing this until I tell her I am done myself. She loves having me do things with her -it's her way of spending time with me since my time is mostly consumed w/ Callie. Since Callie is older now and is able to sit up & entertain herself, I have a little bit more free time w/ Chloe. It's been amazing how awesome & understanding Chloe has been. She's been very accepting of her baby sister. I love seeing how well they get along & the love that they have for each other. Granted, Callie isn't getting into Chloe's stuff yet but I do treasure the moments I have with them.

Callie is 7 months old today! Still keep forgetting to get her well-check. I know, I know! I'm such a doink. But the office has been super busy & I get all ADD when they put me on hold and I have to wait for more than 7 minutes. I hate just sitting on the phone and listening to some elevator music. I will make an appointment for her this month since she'll have one for her 8th month also, I think? Well, Callie definitely is vocal also - but louder. Conni finds it funny that I keep telling "inside voice" to Callie as if she really understand what that means. All I know is that if I just keep repeating it, I'm sure she will eventually catch on. Although at this stage, she just finds it hilarious when I tell her "inside voice" - she thinks she's a comedian. She's such a happy baby - loves to give smiles...unless you are blond or men w/ facial hair! For some reason, she's not used to blonds or men with facial hair! She is trying to creep now. She loves to stand too and she will hold my hand & stay standing for quite sometime now. Definitely has more control of her upper body - she can sit up on her own for a very long period of time. Loves to watch Dora w/ her big sister. She gets excited as Chloe...sad to say but Chloe didn't watch much TV at her age and yet, Callie is watching TV with her sister! It's ironic how many things can change w/ a second child. Wonder if Callie will have cake on her 1st birthday. Chloe never had a taste of anything sweets until she was a little over 15 months old. Don't get me wrong, I had cake for Chloe but she didn't get to eat it. I had a few people thinking I was weird for doing that but I was adamant on not giving her sweets. I just figured she will have plenty of time to eat all that crap - no point of starting her out early...to each it's own, I guess. I want the same thing for Callie too...I really would love for her to not eat sweets until she's over 15 months old. Will I be able to do it? That's a toughie because Steve loves sweets/candies...so we'll see how long I can hold it from her.
